We are thrilled to announce the acquisition of the team behind Ruby Card, the all-in-one finance and banking platform. Co-founders Shariar Kabir, Jordan Yaqoob, and Miguel Acero have joined Numeral post-acquisition and will work to accelerate our global and SaaS offerings.
Coming together
I first met Shariar, Jordan, and Miguel during Y Combinator’s W23 batch. We became fast friends, given our shared experience building and supporting ecommerce brands. It turned out that I wasn’t the only one who had dealt with the nightmare that is sales tax.
We stayed in touch over the years, shared notes, exchanged intros, and heck, they even showed us how to launch our Shopify app.
Then everything fell into place.
It became clear to Matt and me, as well as the Ruby Card team, that together we could make an even greater impact and address the challenges that growing e-commerce and SaaS businesses face as they scale.
I’m excited to welcome Ruby Card to our team. This marks our first acquisition, and with it, we now have seven YC founders working at Numeral.
Supporting our customers
Today, Numeral works with over 1,500 leading e-commerce and SaaS brands. They let us worry about their sales tax. And we guarantee that their sales tax is filed on time; otherwise, we’ll pay any penalties and interest charges.
Sales tax is a tricky problem. And a global one.
An ecommerce brand doing $5M in sales typically owes sales tax in more than 30 states, which means they need to comply with the tax rules of nearly 10,000 jurisdictions. And for software businesses, things are even more complicated, as these businesses are often selling globally from day one. (fun-fact: we support +55 countries)
While we’ve made great strides, including having recently raised our Series A from Benchmark, there is a lot of work to be done.
Shariar, Jordan, and Miguel will join our engineering team to help accelerate our global offering, including integrations and our industry-leading tax engine.
If you can make it there.
As part of this acquisition, we are excited to open Numeral’s New York City office. We are currently hiring for several roles, including on our engineering and sales teams. Join us?
